FAQ

New Style Catering is an experienced mobile catering company serving Winkler and communities throughout southern Manitoba. Please review the following frequently asked questions before sending us your inquiry.

Do you charge mileage or travel fees?

Travel or mileage fees may apply depending on the location of your venue. Once we receive your inquiry, we will provide all relevant information, including any applicable travel costs.

We recommend having a venue tentatively booked before requesting an estimate, as pricing may vary depending on the location.

Where do consultations take place?

Consultations take place by appointment only at:

36 Tyler Way

Reinfeld, Manitoba

There is a large brown shop beside the house.

Do you provide bartending services?

Yes, we can provide bar service for your event and customize it according to your needs.

All our bartenders hold valid Smart Choices certification. They will bring the necessary bar tools, utensils, shakers, and other bartending equipment.

The client is responsible for obtaining the liquor licence and providing the liquor, juices, mixes, and other beverages.

Is gratuity added?

Yes. An automatic gratuity is added to the client’s invoice for all services.

If guests choose to give additional tips directly to servers, bartenders, or other staff members, those tips are considered additional and do not reduce the amount of the final invoice.

How many guests can you accommodate?

We have catered large banquets with more than 1,500 guests.

Our minimum guest count is 50 people. Additional charges may apply to events with fewer than 50 guests.

Do you offer tastings?

We do not usually offer private tastings. However, if you have a particular dish in mind, we may be able to prepare a few extra portions when we are making that dish for another event.

We also participate in a wedding show in late spring each year, where we offer a variety of samples. We can inform you once the date has been confirmed.

Is table setting included?

Individual table setting is not included. This includes placing linens, dishes, cutlery, centrepieces, and other items on the guest tables.

Our staff can provide table-setting service for an additional $1.50 per person.

Do you provide water jugs or a water station?

We do not provide individual water jugs for the tables.

If your venue does not provide water jugs, you may rent them from Heartland Rentals. Our servers can fill the jugs, place them on the tables, and refill them during the meal.

Alternatively, we can provide a water dispenser for a water station.

Where is the food prepared, and are you licensed and insured?

Most of the cooking is completed in our licensed kitchen. The food is then delivered to the venue in insulated hot- or cold-holding containers.

We hold a valid food safety permit and carry liability insurance.

Do we need separate salad and dinner plates for a buffet?

At approximately 90% of buffet-style events, guests use the same plate for salads and main-course items. Using one plate can help reduce dish-rental costs.

However, if the head table will be served, please provide separate salad plates for those guests. Please make sure that both the salad plates and dinner plates are placed in the kitchen or designated staff area before service begins.

Is dish cleaning included?

Standard serving and dish cleanup are included when a commercial dishwasher is available.

If dishes must be washed by hand, an additional charge will apply.

If the dishes are rented, our staff will collect and scrape them and prepare them for pickup or return delivery.

Can we provide our own desserts or other dishes?

Yes. You may provide your own desserts or other dishes.

Depending on your selected package and menu, an appropriate discount may be applied.

When will the staff arrive, and what is included?

For a buffet-style meal, our servers generally arrive approximately one hour before the scheduled mealtime. They will:

  • Set up the buffet
  • Prepare the beverage station
  • Refill food and beverages as needed
  • Clear dishes from the tables

When is the dessert usually served

If dessert will be served later, we usually set up the dessert buffet on the same table after the main buffet has been cleared.

If you would like dessert served at the same time as the main meal, you will need to provide a separate table.

Please order an additional tablecloth for the dessert table. If the same table is used for both services, the tablecloth from the main meal may no longer look presentable.

Do you provide tablecloths for the buffet tables?

No. Please include buffet-table linens in your linen-rental order.

Do you provide individual dishes, cutlery, and linens?

We do not provide individual guest place settings, linens, or centrepieces.

However, we have the dishes, serving utensils, and platters required for buffet-style and family-style meal service.

How long does food service last?

Depending on the number of guests and the selected menu, you should allow approximately 1.5 hours for food service.

When does the staff leave?

Our staff will leave after all dishes used for the meal have been cleared.

Sometimes guests wish to continue using certain dishes, such as wine glasses, after our staff have finished. Unless other arrangements have been made in advance, the client will be responsible for washing any dishes that remain in use after our staff leave.

We recommend providing disposable cups and dishes for anything that will be served after our staff have completed their service.

How many servers will you provide for 150 guests?

The number of servers depends on the menu and service style.

For approximately 150 guests, we generally provide:

  • Around five servers for buffet-style service
  • Around 15 servers for plated-meal service

Do you accommodate gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, vegetarian, or other dietary requests?

Yes, we can accommodate many dietary requests. Depending on the menu and the specific request, an additional charge of approximately $3.00–$5.00 per person may apply.

Please ask your guests about allergies and dietary restrictions, even if special dietary options are not listed on your selected menu. This information must be submitted to us at least one week before the event.

For every guest requiring a special meal, we will need:

  • The guest’s name
  • The specific allergy or dietary restriction

For buffet-style service, guests requiring special meals should identify themselves to our servers when their table is called.

We take precautions to minimize cross-contact. However, our kitchen is not a certified gluten-free, dairy-free, or nut-free facility, and we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment. If trace exposure could seriously affect a guest, please advise them to bring their own meal.

For plated-meal service, please provide a floor plan clearly showing where each guest receiving a special meal will be seated. We also recommend labelling that guest’s place setting so our servers can easily identify them.

Is a deposit required?

Yes. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your event date. The deposit will be applied toward the final cost of your event.

Once the deposit has been received, we will send you confirmation that your date has been secured.

We encourage you to email us with questions or additional information. We can also arrange a phone call or an in-person meeting. If your question is urgent, please call or send us a text message.

Other than the deposit required to secure your date, we do not have a formal payment plan. However, you are welcome to make payments at any time. The final balance must be paid in full before the event.

When do you need the confirmed menu and final guest count?

The menu must be confirmed at least one month before the event.

The final guest count must be submitted no later than one week before the event. We will then send you the final invoice, which must be paid in full before the event date.

How can deposits and other payments be made?

Payments can be made by:

  • Cash
  • Cheque
  • E-transfer

E-transfers can be sent using either of the following:

Phone: (204) 362-9372

Email: info@newstylecatering.ca

Can we keep the leftovers?

Food quantities are calculated according to the final confirmed guest count.

If there are any special details we should consider—for example, if you know that most guests will prefer one dish over another—please let us know in advance.

If fewer guests attend and food remains, we will pack the leftovers for you to take home or donate.

Will you be catering other events on the same day?

Yes,  Depending on the requests we receive, we may cater more than one event on the same day.

We have enough experienced staff to accommodate multiple events professionally.

What cuisines and specialty dishes do you offer?

We offer a wide variety of cuisines and menu options.

If you do not see a particular dish in our menu section, please ask us about it. We may be able to create a customized or themed menu for your event.

Important reminder

Because of our very busy schedule, we want to ensure that no details are missed.

Please contact us one to two weeks before your event to reconfirm all final arrangements, particularly if there has been little or no communication between us for an extended period.
